Hosta lancifolia
Great foliage plants, very architectural, relatively disease free, easy to grow, long lived, well behaved and unfortunately slugs and snails like them to. Growing them in pots is a solution. The other is that we have to manage our gardens more ecologically, giving predators like frogs and hedgehogs a healthy environment to live in. Quite a different Hosta from the usual hybrids. Dense mounds of narrow pointed dark green leaves, somewhat reminiscent of mouse plant (Arisarum proboscideum). Will spread (slowly) as a ground cover. Usual Hosta conditions of good soil in partial shade.
