Sanguisorba are perennials with attractive, pinnate leaves and branched stems bearing terminal spikes of small fluffy bottlebrush-like flowers. Good in flower borders with ornamental grasses or in a prairie planting. Happiest in a sunny border where the soil stays moist.
S. Blackthorn has slender, erect, branching stems bearing oval spikes of deep reddish-pink flowers throughout summer.
