A BLANK CANVAS

A large redbrick house in Glenageary had been fixed up during the boom years with an over-planted garden of shrubs and trees. Ordinarily, we like to embrace some of the existing details of a space, but in this case the only sensible approach was to remove everything and start with a blank canvas. By planting with good perennials and a selection of new trees and shrubs the garden looked full again after the first 12 months but with the sustainability of a garden which won’t overrun you in the years to come.
