Sanguisorba Ruby Velvet

Description

Sanguisorba are perennials with attractive, pinnate leaves and branched stems bearing terminal spikes of small fluffy bottlebrush-like flowers. Good in flower borders with ornamental grasses or in a prairie planting. Happiest in a sunny border where the soil stays moist.

S. Ruby Velvet is tall and upright with a mass of  dark red heads, which glow in a sunny border before maturing to near-black in autumn. Great with grasses. One of my favourite Sanguisorbas.
