WERTHEIM GARDEN

The owner of this garden wanted to live with his family right next to his company, which is located in the midst of a busy industrial estate in central Germany. The brief was to create a garden for ‘Indiana Jones’! This was in 1998.The framework of trees and shrubs, planted as small saplings combined with large drifts of prairie style planting has now evolved to a jungle of fabulous trees and some of the tallest species of bamboo.The prairie planting has been reduced to the sunny parts of the garden whereas the more shade tolerant species have formed large sustainable drifts under the canopy of trees. Today the grand children are swinging from branches and building houses from bamboo canes while grandad watches.
