Monarda Bee-Pure

Description

Monardas are great easy to grow border plants with a very long flowering period. They are happy in fertile water retentive soil and will grow in full sun as in semi-shade. Look well with Persicaria amplexicaule and Sanguisorbas. They have lovely aromatic foliage and the seed heads look good even as the plant fades. They are best in good fertile soil which is free-draining but not dry.

There are a bewildering assortment of Monarda ‘Bee-‘ cultivars now. But for all their slightly naff marketing they are reliable, floriferous, mildew-resistant varieties that we’ve found to perform well. Bee Pure has purple flowers that are a favourite of pollinators and rich green, aromatic foliage.
