Description
Great foliage plants, very architectural, relatively disease free, easy to grow, long lived, well behaved and unfortunately slugs and snails like them to. Growing them in pots is a solution.
The other is that we have to manage our gardens more ecologically, giving predators like frogs and hedgehogs a healthy environment to live in. A medium-sized Hosta with dark green leaves the shape of my heart and centres lined in fields of gold. Flowers on upright scapes, lavender-white like a moon over Bourbon Street appear from mid summer. Hostas are tough as a desert rose, enjoying cool, moist soil and nothing like the sun. We’re mad about them.
