Silphium perfoliatum

Description

A striking member of the American tall grass prairie, from clumps of large leaves thick square shaped stems push up to height of 300 cm with alternate leaves that collect the morning due in their “arm-pits”. Yellow composite flowers arranged on branched out stems in late Summer. Grow exceptionally well in Ireland.
