Salvia sclarea

Description

Muscatel sage, is a biennial perennial. It reaches up to 1m in height, with thick square hairy stems. The flowers are colourful bracts that range in colour from pale mauve to lilac or white to pink. The plant has a history as a medical herb and is currently grown for its essential oil. In the flower border or herb garden it makes a great show because of the beautiful flower and the unusual and strong sent.
